Together By Design

The Black in Jewelry Coalition’s “Together By Design” competition celebrates Black designers and encourages more representation of Black love in the jewelry and bridal industry. Designers are asked to submit sketches for a bespoke engagement ring inspired by one couple’s love story. The selected designer will create the ring they designed made with a 1.44- carat Fancy Yellow diamond and platinum setting. For designers unfamiliar with working with platinum, Platinum Guild International is committed to providing resources and support to create an exceptional ring.  The winning designer will receive a $5,000 cash prize and continuing education courses as well as industry and consumer media exposure.

The winning jeweler will receive:

• $5,000 cash prize
• Scholarship for 1 two-hour GIA online Continuing Education Seminar
• Scholarship for 1 Basic Tuition at GRS
• One year of Jewelers of America membership
• One year of JVC membership

About The Couple’s Love Story:

This lovely couple met through their professional journeys and became best friends. Over the years, that friendship evolved into love. When asked about meaningful words, places, or symbols, he shared: Coney Island is a place with special meaning to them. The number 3 holds significance as representation of them and God. A special date is Feb. 5, 2022. How can you take these elements and create an engagement ring that is symbolic of their love?
